Featuring hybrid oil/water swelling elastomers and an integrated Thermal Expansion Sub to absorb tubing movement, it delivers reliable sealing in aggressive open-hole environments (H2S/Steam) without mechanical intervention.

2. Intelligent “Hybrid” Swelling Technology

Operational flexibility is key. Our proprietary Hybrid Elastomer technology removes the guesswork from deployment. The packer features a passive swelling mechanism that activates upon contact with wellbore fluids—whether oil, water, or a mixture of both.

  • No Surface Intervention: The system requires no mechanical setting tools or hydraulic activation.

  • Controlled Expansion: Designed for a 6-1/8″ open hole, the packer swells gradually, achieving a full, permanent seal in approximately 10 to 15 days.

  • Modular Design: Available in 3ft, 5ft, and 7ft lengths to suit specific zonal isolation requirements.

3. Solved: The Thermal Expansion Challenge

In high-temperature wells, thermal cycling causes significant expansion and contraction in the tubing string, which can shear standard packers or compromise the seal.

The SUMA system integrates a specialized Thermal Expansion Sub directly above the packer.

  • Dynamic Movement: Capable of absorbing up to 600 mm (approx. 2 ft) of stroke length.

  • Load Bearing: Engineered to withstand axial loads exceeding 140 metric tons.

  • Seal Integrity: By decoupling the tubing movement from the packer element, the system ensures the seal remains undisturbed during production or injection cycles.
